Capsicum annuum ‘Sweet Vera’ (also known as ‘Marconi Rosso’)
An old sweet variety that has been grown in NZ for 15 generations. Originally obtained from the USA as ‘Sweet Vera’ but this name no longer is used there.
Plants are relatively short and produce large elongated fruit throughout summer and autumn. They ripen quicker than bell-shaped capsicums and also continue to produce well into autumn. Best planted in small groups which can offer support for the stems. Ripe fruit is best kept off of the ground with course mulch.
