Manihot grahamii (Ornamental Cassava)
Fantastic leaves are the best part of this large shrub or small tree. Very quick growing. A lovely addition to any tropical garden, it flowers in summer and the lime green blooms are bee magnets. Frost tender, deciduous, normally cut back hard once most of the leaves have fallen. Reports indicate that this species can become weedy in the far north where its flowers have a long enough period to fully develop the seed capsules.
Germination
These seeds are very erratic in their germination and can come up quickly or take up to two years to germinate.
Soak seeds in warm water overnight, and remove the white waxy plug at one end of the seed- see photo of seeds. Pot up individually and keep pots at room temperature.
