Vanilla passionvine
This produces stunning fuchsia / red pendulous flowers followed by yellow oblong fruit. The pulp has a delicate flavour, and is sweet, juicy, and aromatic. The fruits take longer to form and mature so need a long warm summer but is my favourite of the varieties! Prefers shade until established, like with all passionfruit, keep the roots cool and damp and the head in the sun. I plant mine under trees so it can meander up them as needed. The leaves and petals make wonderful healing teas, for aiding menstrual cramps, insomnia, and anxiety amongst other things. They are also used in perfumes and soaps.
Germination
To increase your chances of successful germination, rub the seeds against a mildly abrasive surface such as a paper towel, a piece of rough fabric, or a bit of screen to break open the membrane surrounding the seed.
Soak seeds in warm water overnight.
While they are soaking, prepare 3-inch pots with a handful of compost or seed starting mix. Add 1 to 2 seeds to each, planted about 1 inch deep. Moisten, but do not drench the soil. Place in a warm spot and keep at room temperature until germinated
