White Scabiosa

White Scabiosa

Perfect for any back border, these tall growing white blooms look absolutely phenomenal in a vase on their own, or paired with other flowers. Long lasting and flowering for months as long as you continue to harvest, they are a perfect plant to have on hand whether you are looking at doing bouquets or jus landscaping. Bees and butterflies love them, and I often spend an hour watching the bumbles fumble their way around the various flower heads.

  • Approximate minimum seed count per pack

One small ziplock seed bag full of unchaffed seed. Aproximately more than 50 seeds

  • Germination

White scabiosa (Scabiosa atropurpurea, commonly known as pincushion flower) is best sown in autumn to enjoy its delicate blooms in winter or early spring. Sow the seeds directly into prepared garden beds or seed trays, using a well-draining seed-starting mix. Lightly cover the seeds with a fine layer of soil, as they need some light to germinate. Keep the soil consistently moist, and ensure they are in a location with full sun or light shade. Germination usually occurs within 10-14 days if temperatures are around 15-20°C. As seedlings grow, thin or transplant them to allow spacing of 20-30 cm (8-12 inches) between plants. In mild climates, the plants overwinter well, providing beautiful blooms when little else is flowering. Regular deadheading and harvesting encourages prolonged flowering.
